Working alongside Ben van der Merwe, digital investigations journalist for Sky News’ Data & Forensics unit, I designed the lead visual for an in-depth report investigating the surge in Russian drone attacks on Ukraine. The teaser image was crafted to immediately convey the scale and urgency of the data- combining a stark, modern aesthetic with subtle motion cues and clean typographic hierarchy to highlight the gravity of the findings.
The visual was used across Sky’s digital platforms, serving as the primary thumbnail and social teaser for the article: “Drone attacks on Ukraine reach record levels as Russia could be stockpiling missiles for winter assault.” It balanced editorial clarity with visual impact, helping to draw users into a data-driven narrative while maintaining consistency with Sky’s brand identity.
This project showcases my ability to distil complex geopolitical reporting into concise, accessible visuals tailored for high-traffic digital environments.
